Claude Code is Anthropic’s agentic coding tool that runs in your terminal. For a technical solo founder, it is one of the highest-leverage hires you can make: it reads and searches your codebase, edits files, runs tests and build commands, opens pull requests, and works through multi-step tasks while you review what it does, so one person can maintain a product that would normally need a small team.

It slots into whatever editor and git workflow you already use, follows your project conventions from a config file, and can be extended with hooks, custom commands, and subagents. There is an SDK for building your own agents on the same harness, which is how a founder turns repetitive dev chores into automation.

The honest qualifier: this is a tool for someone who can code, or is seriously learning to. It is not a no-code app builder, and you should be able to read a diff and catch a mistake. Cost is friendly for a solo, starting around the $20/mo Claude Pro plan, with API usage-based billing if you run it hard. If you build your own product, this belongs in your stack. If you cannot read code at all, start with a no-code tool elsewhere on this list.
